Smoke Detector Installation Tips

1. A smoke detector should be mounted on every level of the home.
2. Detectors should be located outside of every bedroom.
3. Electrical detectors should have a battery back-up.
4. Detectors should be checked monthly for proper operation.
5. Replace detector at least every 10 years.

Smoke Detector Installation Program

The Calabash Fire Department is committed to ensuring that every home within our district has a working smoke detector.  If you are financially unable to purchase a detector please contact us and we will assist you with getting one.

If you are handicapped or elderly and cannot physically install a smoke detector, please contact us and we will have someone come out and install the detector for you.
